A little more detail:

The Male Hormone Panel test is a blood test designed to assess levels of various hormones in men, particularly those related to sexual health, reproduction, and overall well-being. This panel helps diagnose hormonal imbalances that can affect libido, energy levels, mood, and fertility.

Key components typically included in a Male Hormone Panel are:

  1. Testosterone: The primary male sex hormone, which plays a crucial role in muscle mass, bone density, and sexual function. Low testosterone levels can lead to symptoms like fatigue, depression, and reduced libido.

  2. Free Testosterone: This measures the fraction of testosterone that is not bound to proteins, making it more available for use by the body.

  3. Luteinizing Hormone (LH): This hormone stimulates the production of testosterone in the testes. Abnormal levels can indicate issues with the pituitary gland or testicular function.

  4. Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH): This hormone is involved in sperm production and can provide insight into testicular function.

  5. Dihydrotestosterone (DHT): A potent form of testosterone that affects hair growth and prostate health.

  6. Prolactin: Elevated levels can indicate hormonal imbalances that may affect sexual function.

The Male Hormone Panel is essential for diagnosing conditions such as hypogonadism, infertility, and other hormonal disorders, guiding treatment decisions, and monitoring therapy effectiveness. Regular testing can help men maintain optimal hormonal balance and overall health.
